Portland struggles late against the Warriors

The Golden State Warriors showed Wednesday why they can score with some of the best teams in the league. Point guard Stephen Curry had a game-high 32 points on 12 for 19 shooting as the Warriors beat the Trail Blazers 101-93 from Oracle Arena. The Blazers finish their back-to-back-to-back at 2-1 meanwhile Golden State snapped a three-game losing streak and got their first win against a Western Conference opponent.

Forward David Lee also put in 26 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter. Swingman Brandon Rush threw in 14 points off the bench.

SBA Announces Non Stop Flights to Portland

Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) officials are very pleased with Alaska Airlines’ announcement to begin new non-stop seasonal service to Portland (PDX), Oregon beginning June 4, 2012 and continuing through August 25, 2012. The daily two-hour flight will depart at 11:50am from Santa Barbara and fly non-stop to Portland using a 70-passenger Bombardier CRJ-700 regional jet. The introductory fare will be $99 one-way.

N.Y. acquires Cooper from Portland

Red Bull New York made a splash on Thursday but not in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft, announcing that it has acquired striker Kenny Cooper from the Portland Timbers in exchange for a pick in the 2013 SuperDraft and allocation money.

Cooper, 27, notched eight goals and two assists in 34 appearances for the Timbers last season, but experienced a difficult spell after it was rumored that the front office was looking to trade him. He was benched for five successive games in July before catching fire late in the year, netting four goals in Portland’s last seven games.

Brownstein And Armisen’s Comedic Take On Portland

Soon after Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen became friends, they started making sketch-comedy videos.

“We would email a link … to our friends, but they were mostly for us,” says Brownstein. “It was very understated and silly, and we were just sort of reveling in the absurd.”

Portland Mayor Brennan undergoes cancer treatment

Newly elected Portland Mayor, Michael Brennan, announced today that over the weekend he had surgery to remove a carcinoid tumor from his small intestine.

According to the City of Portland, Brennan had been seeking treatment for stomach cramps when the tumor was discovered. Brennan says that he will be seeking further, non-invasive, treatment for lesions found on the liver.

Communications Director, Nicole Clegg says recovering comfortably at home and plans to return to work at City Hall next week on a limited basis until he is fully recovered.
